Operation Amped, was founded by a group of surfers in 2006, Operation Amped is about giving back to those who've been wounded in service to our country.
As surfers, we can't think of any greater expression of what they fought for than the freedom of surfing itself. In thanks, we share our love of the ocean with disabled veterans and their families.
Operation Amped puts on surf events throughout the year ranging in duration from one day to a week. At these events, participants have the chance to get free of the constraints of their illness or injury.
Many have never set foot on a surfboard. Many have never set foot in the ocean. Some can't even swim. But with the support of this grassroots effort, everyone has fun. And some become surfers forever...
Each August, Operation Amped puts on a Surf Clinic at the San Onofre Beach site at Camp Pendleton for wounded warriors. We rent a block of the Cottages to house the servicemen/women and their families. This year, we will be able to reserve the new, handicap friendly units for the group!
